The Glass-making traditional Alsatian:
Alsatian glass factory, XIXth century
At the beginning of the XIVth century, glass factories prospered in Alsace. They were installed in the North, in particular to Mattstall, to Wingen on Morder and in the country of nearby Bitche.
But also in the South of the province, to Lucelle who was then a part of the Haut-Rhin, to Wildenstein and to Taennchel.
Most of these centers stopped their activity towards the end of the XIXth century.
The glass-making was then often personalized, offered as present on the occasion of the big moments of the private life: baptism, confirmation, communion, marriage, but also professional: tribute to a famous craftsman, to an old member of trade guilds.
